Parker, Sr., 82 years old, a Confederate veteran, died yesterday evening at 8:20 o'clock, at the home of his son George W. Parker, 507 Lee street. Mr. Parker was wounded in the right knee, but despite this he remained until the surrender at Appomattox, returned home and took up the broken threads which had been rent by the war and started life anew. He was a native of Berkley and was perhaps its oldest citizen. His widow died about eleven years ago, since which time he had made his home with his son. He is survived by an only son, Captain G.W. Parker and several grandsons and granddaughters. He was a charter member of Chesapeake tribe No. 50, Red Men. There is only one of the charter members still living. The funeral arrangements will be announced later. **************************************************************** PARKER - At the residence of his son, George W. Parker, 507 Lee street, Saturday evening, July 5, 1919, at 8:20 o'clock, GEORGE PARKER, aged 81 years and 10 months. The funeral services will be conducted at the above residence THIS (Monday) AFTERNOON, at 5 o'clock and burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia cemetery. Friends of the family are invited.
