Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, May 23, 2002 
Bessie S. Welsh-Parker of the 7000 block of Mamie Blvd. departed life May 18,
2002, at the Norfolk Health Care Center.

She was a native of Princess Anne County and the daughter of the late Pauline
Watson and John Savage. She retired from the City of Norfolk and the Bureau of
Tenant Services after 25 years, 8 months and graduated in 1954 from the
Russell's School of Beauty Culture, Norfolk.

Bessie is survived by her husband, Joseph Parker of Norfolk; and a brother, the
Rev. L.P. Watson of Norfolk.

A funeral will be held at noon Saturday at Graves Funeral Chapel, 1631 Church
St., Norfolk. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will begin this
evening
