Church and one block from the police station. He was struck seven or eight times on the head, face and neck with a piece of iron pipe, the fatal blow being five inches long and three inches deep, cutting through the skull. He was immediately removed to the offices of Drs. Morgan and Lawford but he was beyond medical aid. He died yesterday at 12:25 o'clock. Well Known Citizen Mr. Parks, 48 years old, was an electrical engineer in the navy yard, which position he had held quite a number of years. He served in the town council a number of terms, was chief of the town volunteer fire department several years and was a member of Berkley lodges of Masons and Elks. He is survived by a wife, one son, C.W. Parks, Jr., two brothers, J.F. and John Parks and three sisters. His wife was in a serious condition yesterday and was being attended by physicians. Robbery Was Purpose From the person of Mr. Parks was taken about $100, a check given by his brother on Saturday, a $150 gold watch, pocketbook, quite a number of papers, and a quantity of ferry tickets. Several of the papers were found later near the spot where he was assaulted. The funeral of the late C.W. Parks will take place Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock from the residence in Berkley avenue and the interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Virginian Pilot Tuesday April 30, 1907 The funeral of the late Charles W. Parks, who was murdered on Berkley avenue Sunday morning, will be conducted from the residence 513 Berkley avenue. Several ministers of the ward will conduct the services. The deceased was a member of Berkley Lodge of Eagles No. 278; B.P.O. Elks and Berkley Lodge No. 16, A.F. & A.M. and these lodges will take part in the services. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
