He was taken ill Monday morning at 2:30 o'clock. The deceased was a native of Virginia and had been a resident of Berkley ward for the last 30 years. He was a son of the late J.T. Parks, who died about three years ago, and a brother of the late C.W. Parks, who died about two years ago. He was 33 years old. He is survived by one brother, John H. Parks; three sisters, Miss L.V. Parks, Mrs. I.T. Bell and Miss Mary M. Parks, and an aunt, Miss Toadvine, all of Berkley avenue. The deceased had been in failing health for the past 18 months and had visited Asheville, N.C. and various other points for relief and members of the family had hopes of his recovery until a few days ago. The deceased was highly esteemed and possessed about as large a circle of friends as any man in the ward. He served in the Spanish-American War as a member of Lee Rifles, Norfolk, Fourth Virginia Regiment. He was a member of Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian Church, Lee Lodge No. 48, K. of P., Berkley Lodge No. 278, B.P.O. Elks. The funeral will be conducted from the above residence this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock, with Rev. C.S. Lingamfelter officiating, and the interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. The lodges of which he was a member have been called out to attend the funeral.
