Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, February 20, 1997 
Alexander C. Parson, 70, of the 1400 block of Atlantic Ave., died Feb. 18, 1997.

Born in Norfolk County, he retired from the postal service in 1984 with 37 years
service. He was a member of St. Joseph AMEZ Church, Chesapeake.

Survivors include two stepdaughters; two stepsons; two sisters, Grace Parson and
Elouise Griffin, both of Chesapeake; eight step-grandchildren and 10
step-great-grandchildren; five nieces; four nephews, five great-nieces; three
great-nephews; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Joan Parson of Chesapeake; a good friend,
Edna Medley; a host of cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents,
Vernon and Sophora Parson; and brother, Dr. Melvin N. Parson.

A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph AMEZ Church,
Chesapeake, by the Rev. Charles Eason. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The
family will receive relatives and friends at 1023 Nelson St., Chesapeake.
Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, is handling arrangements.
