PATTON DEAD Sad Demise of a Lady of Beautiful and Estimable Character The friends of Mrs. Maria H. Patton, wife of Professor I.W. Patton, of the Norfolk Business College, learn with extreme regret of her death, which occurred Sunday morning at the Retreat for the Sick. The funeral took place from Christ's Episcopal Church at 11 o'clock yesterday morning being conducted by the following: The Right Rev. A.M. Randolph, D.D., bishop of the diocese of Southern Virginia; Rev. B.D. Tucker, D.D., of St. Paul's Episcopal Church; Rev. A.S. Lloyd, of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and Rev. W.J. Young, D.D., of the Epworth Methodist Church. The interment was in Elmwood and the following were the pallbearers: Messrs. Philip Chapman, James Davenport, Charlie McDermot, Peter Jones, Sidney Britt and Charlie Swank. Mrs. Patton was the daughter of the Rev. R.H. Jones, of this city, and the granddaughter of the Rev. Benjamin Hoskins, of the South Carolina Conference M.E. Church South. She leaves three brothers and two sisters. She was a most lovable and beautiful character, holding the affections and respect of all with whom she was thrown by her sweet disposition and Christian example.
