Patykula, 91, of the 8200 block of Halprin Drive, passed away Feb. 23, 2008. Born in New Bedford, Mass., to the late Thomas and Antonia Patykula, Mr. Patykula was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Dartmouth Technical College. A retired U.S. Naval officer, he was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Mr. Patykula also retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Fleet Reserve Association. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice V. Patykula; three sons, John Patykula of Richmond, Va., Thomas Patykula and wife, Ida, of Mililani, Hawaii, and Joseph Patykula and wife, Lynn, of Yorktown, Va.; a sister, Janina Roberts of Rapid City, S.D.; four grandchildren, Timothy and wife, Jessica, Alexander, Julie and Michael Patykula; and sister-in-law, Stacia Patykula. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Joseph Patykula; and two sisters, Katherine Gunning and Alice Hopp. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Pius X Catholic Church by Father Jun Belarote. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel.
