Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark November 5, 1927

Mrs. Lula Virginia Payne, age 45, of 117 Hough Avenue, died last night at 
10:40 o'clock after a brief illness at a local hospital.  A native of 
Norfolk and daughter of C.E. Walker and the late Mrs. Laura Jones Walker, 
and a lifetime resident, Mrs. Payne, in addition to her father, is survived 
by her husband, H.G. Payne; two sisters, Mrs. E.R. Hendren, New Orleans and 
Mrs. E.E. Hinman, Pittsburgh and one brother, Charles E. Walker of this 
city.
The body will be taken from the funeral home of E. Lee Cox, 124 East Berkley 
Avenue, to the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church Monday afternoon, where funeral 
services will be conducted at 3:30 o'clock.  Burial will be in the family 
plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
