Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, January 20, 1994
Earl Bernard Payton Sr. of the 5700 block of Roper Drive, a meter mechanic, died
Jan. 17, 1994, in his residence.

Mr. Payton was born in Norfolk and was employed with the City of Norfolk for 20
years.

Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Baker of Atlanta, Earlene P. Wilson
of Virginia Beach, Lorrine Payton of Chesapeake; one son, Earl B. Payton Jr. of
Heidelberg, Germany; four sisters, Evelyn Wiggins, Vernell Crudup, Novell A.
Whitaker, Velma Collins, all of Norfolk; two brothers, Pernell Payton, Nathan
Payton, both of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren, special friends and children, Ms.
Maria Graves; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Antioch Missionary Baptist
Church, Berkley, by Dr. I. Joseph Williams. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery .
A wake service will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in Hale Funeral Home. Family
and friends will assemble at the residence at noon Saturday.
