Johnnie Eugene Peake was pronounced dead on arrival at Norfolk General Hospital. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Eugene Peake of 2978 Welcome Rd. Police said the child went to the closet to hang up his coat after he came into the house shortly before 5:30 p.m. He had been outside playing. Chin Caught on Rod The boy was standing on a stool inside the closet in order to reach the rod on which he was trying to hang the coat. Apparently he slipped and caught his chin on the rod. Patrolmen C.L. Owens and George Paspas Jr. rushed the victim to the hospital in a police ambulance for emergency treatment. The boy was dead before they arrived at the hospital. The child would have been seven years old on Jan 17. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Norfolk and a first grade student at St. Mary's School. Besides his parents, the boy is survived by a brother, Michael Thomas Peake; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Amanda Belle Peake and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Fly of South Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. **************************************************************************** Funeral services for Johnnie Eugene Peake, six-year-old son of Harry Eugene and Mrs. Beverly Fly Peake, who died Monday, were conducted at St. Mary's Catholic Church yesterday at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Peter Schouten, pastor. The Rev Richard Rivard and the Rev. William P. Connelly were present in the sanctuary. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
