The Norfolk Virginian Pilot May 20, 1937

Stephen Lee Pender, husband of Florence Ellis Pender, and son of the late Gen. 
William Dorsey Pender, and Mrs. Mary Frances Sheppard Pender, a native of 
Tarboro, N.C. and for the past 10 years a resident of Norfolk, died at 5:40 
o’clock yesterday morning at 524 Fairfax Avenue. Besides his wife, Mrs. 
Florence Ellis Pender, he is survived by one daughter; he is survived by one 
daughter, Mrs. Edward Dillon of Richmond, and three grandchildren, Edward, 
Eleanor and Amanda Dillon. Services will be held privately at H.D. Oliver’s 
Funeral Apartments, 610-612 East Freemason Street, this afternoon with the Rev. 
W. Taylor Willis, rector of Christ and St. Luke’s Church, officiating. 
Interment will be private in Elmwood Cemetery at 3:30 o’clock.
