Mrs. Mary L. Pennington, 1356 Eden street, died November 1, 12:40 p.m. at 
her residence at the age of 71.

She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Marshall.  She was born 
in Farmville, VA and had lived in Norfolk 60 years.  She was a member of the 
United Order of Tents and was a housewife.  She was also a member of the 
First Baptist Church (Bute st.) and served on the usher board for 28 years.

Surviving are  her husband, Willie Pennington, Sr.;  son, Willie Pennington, 
Jr., N.Y. City;  granddaughter, Miss Barbara Pennington, NY.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1:30 p.m. from the church 
with Rev. E. Paul Simms, pastor, conducting.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery 
with Hale Funeral Home in charge.
