The Virginian Pilot Friday February 25, 1949

Mrs. India Sanford Pennington, 80, widow of Alonza C. Pennington, died at her 
residence, 715 West 26th Street, Wednesday at 11:05 p.m.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. D. C. Culpepper, Mrs. D. M. Deshields 
and Mrs. Knox C. Willis, all of Norfolk; a son, George E. Sanford, of 
Scottville; 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Pennington was a native of Hampton, and had been a resident of Norfolk for 
63 years. She was a member of the Cradock Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Sunday at 
3 p.m. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
