The Norfolk Virginian Pilot January 17, 1939
Mrs. Amanda Dozier Penny, age 80 years, widow of Erastus O. Penny, a native of 
Currituck County, N.C., and a resident of Norfolk for the past 60 years, died 
Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at a local hospital.  She resided at 308 
Chapel street.  Mrs. Penny was a member of the Daughters of America, and of 
Epworth M.E. Church.  She is survived by one son, Elzie W. Dozier, of 
Philadelphia, Pa., and four grandchildren.  Services will be held at the H.D. 
Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 2 
o'clock, with the Rev. B.M. Persinger, pastor of Epworth M.E. Church, 
officiating.  Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
