Perkins, aged 45 years, died at Akron, O. Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. after a brief illness. He had made his home in Berkley the last thirty years and was born in Pasquotank County, N.C. He was a son of the late Samuel and Mrs. Susan Gregory Perkins and leaves one brother, Dozier Perkins, South Mills, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. W.C. Quillin, Spencer, N.C. and one daughter, Miss Susie E. Clifton. He was a member of Tidewater Council No. 30, Jr. O.U.A.M. and Goodwill Council, Daughters of America. The body will be brought here for funeral and burial. ****************************************************************** The funeral of Lemuel M. Perkins was conducted at the residence of C.R. Lester, Columbia avenue, Campostella Heights, yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. R.W. Torbert, pastor of the Campostella Heights Baptist Church. The attendance was very large and the floral tributes were beautiful. Burial was in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Zack Quidley, T.C. Humphries, J.L. Riggs, from the Daughters of America, and M.S. Spence, H.R. Simpson, M.M. Hall, from the Junior Order American Mechanics, of which lodges the deceased was a member. Mrs. Homer Pate sang "Jesus Is Calling" and Mrs. Ella Bassett sang "Sweet Bye and Bye."
