He lived in this area for most of his life and was employed as a body-fender mechanic by Ray’s Body Shop. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was commander and a life member of VFW Post 2602, member of Moose Lodge 364, and a Baptist. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Diane Reed of California; his stepmother, Mrs. Annie Perry of Morganton, N.C.; two sons, Royce Ingram Perry II of Chesapeake and Darrell Perry of Virginia Beach; seven sisters, Mrs. Catherine Gardner and Mrs. Marie Spruill of Chesapeake, Mrs. Shirley Overton of Alabama, Mrs. Viola Pulley of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Hazel Lakey of Portsmouth, Mrs. Rhea Garrison of Huntsville, Ala., and Mrs. Betty Cookson of Plainfield, Vt.; three brothers, Wayne Perry of Pennsylvania, William Perry Sr. of Massachusetts, and Wallace Perry of Moyock, N.C.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Thursday night from 7 to 9.
