Virginian Pilot Tuesday  February 7, 1899

Mr. Elmer H. Petherbridge died yesterday at 12:40 p.m. at his residence, corner 
Berkley avenue and Main street, after a long-continued sickness, aged 52 years.  
He leaves a wife and five children to mourn their loss.  Mr. Petherbridge was well 
and widely known.  He was among the old citizens of the town and was for many 
years engaged in business in which he continued until a few years ago.
The funeral will be conducted from the Chestnut Street M.E. Church, Wednesday 
afternoon at 3 o'clock.  The remains will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery, 
Norfolk.
