Virginia Beach - Captain Albert Dominic Petrulis, 93, of Virginia Beach, died May 
14, 2015. He was born in South Boston, MA, to Lithuanian parents, Dominic and 
Stanislawa Petrulis. He proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division during WW II. 
He started as an Able Body Seaman, advanced and retired as a Captain from the US 
Merchant Marine, having sailed 50 years with numerous shipping companies. He was a 
member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Norfolk Council of Knights of Columbus #367, 
the 82nd Airborne Division Association of Hampton Roads, and the International 
Organization of Masters, Mates & Pilots. Albert was predeceased by his daughter, 
Dr. Linda Moore, DDS. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dorothy, sister-in-
law Gloria Wiggins, brother-in-law Ernest Dailey, his children, Caroline Petrulis, 
Capt. Peter Petrulis , USMM (Kimberlie), Capt. Thomas Holman, USN, (Elaine), CDR 
Charles Holman, USCG (April), 6 grandchildren (James, Daniel, Andrew, John, David 
and Josephine), 2 great-grandchildren (Pierce and Sophie), and his nieces (Jane, 
Rita) and nephew (Joe). A viewing will be held on Saturday, May 16th from Noon - 2 
PM at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 2002 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, VA. A Mass of 
Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 20 at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X 
Catholic Church, 7800 Halprin Drive, Norfolk, VA followed by burial at St. Mary's 
Catholic Cemetery, 3000 Church St. Norfolk, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial 
contributions may be made to Knights of Columbus, Norfolk Council #367, 5201 
Kennebeck Ave., Norfolk, VA 23513. Online condolences may be made to the family at
