Norfolk Journal and Guide, Aug 14,1943 
Funeral services for Hadie Pettaway, 38, 810 Wide street, who died in a local 
hospital August 5, were held at Carollton Street Church of God in Christ 
August 10. Elder Warner officiated. Born in Snow Hill, NC, Mr. Pettaway had 
lived here 10 years. Surviving are two brothers and two sisters. Burial was in 
Calvary Cemetery.
