Pettie, 67, of 6335 Waterworks Road died Tuesday in his home after a short illness. He was a son of London and Mrs. Octavia Jones Pettie and was born in Franklin. He lived in Norfolk 50 years and was a vegetable huckster 20 years, serving Riverview and Lakeview sections. He was a member of Baltimore Union, Knights of Pythias and New Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a charter member and trustee and its chairman 12 years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Louvenia Tate Pettie; one daughter, Mrs. Louise McCoy of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Sallie Davis of Philadelphia and Mrs. Margaret Collins and Mrs. Louise Logan of New York City; and four brothers, Ruben Pettie of Philadelphia, Frank H. Pettie of Buffalo, N.Y., London Pettie of Franklin and John D. Pettie of New York City. The body was taken to Riddick Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held in New Calvary Baptist Church Sunday at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. Sam A. Wilson, pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
