Virginian Pilot July 2, 1986

John Alfred Pettus, 71, of the 2700 block of Liberia Drive died June 24, 1986, in 
a local hospital.
Mr. Pettus, a native of Victoria, Va., and a retired merchant seaman with 25 years 
of service, was a Marine veteran.
Survivors include a daughter, Geneva Moore of Norfolk and two grandchildren.
The funeral will  be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hale Funeral Chapel by the 
Rev. J.L. Kearney Sr.  Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.  The family will meet 
at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
