Virginian Pilot February 5, 1901

Miss Gertrude V. Petty, died Sunday morning at 8 o'clock at the home of her 
father, Mr. W.W. Petty, on D street.  The deceased was 31 years of age and had 
been quite ill with consumption for two weeks.  She leaves a father, a brother, 
Mr. A.W. Petty and sister, Mrs. Wade H. Parron, all residents of this place.  
The funeral will be conducted from the residence this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.  
Rev. T.C. Skinner, assisted by Rev. Robert Gatewood, of Norfolk, will officiate.  
The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
