Petty, 66, of 465 Little Neck road, a former Princess Anne school teacher, fraternal and civic leader, received funeral services Tuesday at Lynnhaven Baptist Church. She died Feb. 8 in a Norfolk hospital. The Rev. M. R. Boone officiated at the funeral. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Hairston Funeral Home. An employee of Rose Hall Dress Shop, the Princess Anne County native was a choir member, usher, Sunday school teacher and former clerk of Lynnhaven Baptist. She also was a member of the Missionary Union, Eastern Star and Royal Degree Circle. A national past senior patron of the Tents, Mrs. Petty was financial secretary of the Virginia Beach NAACP. Her survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Janette W. Thomas of Yorktown, Mrs. Audrey W. Hundley and Mrs. Myrtle W. Jones of Virginia Beach; and a brother, Winfred C. Wilson, also of Virginia Beach.
