Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Monday, February 4, 1991 
Annie Jeanette Phelps, of the 2200 block of Maltby Ave., a retired custodian,
died Feb. 1, 1991, in a hospital.

Mrs. Phelps, a native of Burlington, N.C., retired from Norfolk public schools
after 17 years. She was a member of Union Chapel A.M.E. Church and the widow of
Clarence Phelps.

Survivors include a daughter, the Rev. Jeanette F. Phelps of Chesapeake; a son,
Rodney E. Phelps, and a brother, Joel P. Deloatch, both of Norfolk.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Union Chapel A.M.E. Church by
the Rev. Clifton R. Wilson. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Friends may
join the family at 1629 Rhodes St., Chesapeake. The body will be taken to the
church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
