A native of Pulaski, but a former resident of Norfolk for 60 years, she had made her home in Williamsburg two years. She was a daughter of the late Joseph H. and Eliza L. Howe Wassum and the widow of Elijah Stout Philhower. She is survived by two sons, Louis S. Philhower, of Williamsburg, and Roscoe H. Philhower, of Charlotte, N.C.; and five grandchildren. She was past president of the Norfolk Presbytery, a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy, a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church and a former member of Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian Church, Berkley. The body was removed to the Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk, and funeral services will be conducted in the Armstrong Church Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Norfolk.
