Virginian Pilot June 7, 1905

The funeral of the late John Webster Philips, who died Monday morning, was 
conducted from the residence of his sister, Mrs. C.R. Caves, in Montalant Avenue, 
yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
Rev. J.T.T. Hundley, pastor of the Disciples' Church, Norfolk, officiated.  There 
was quite a large number of friends of the deceased in attendance, and the floral 
tributes were numerous and beautiful.
The interment was in Magnolia Cemetery and the following acted as pallbearers: 
Messrs. F.M. Smith, L. Berkley, Z.E. Keister, Pascal Paxson, Dr. Walker, H.T. Law, 
Spicer and Slagle.
