Norfolk - Mrs. Florence G. Phillips of 612 Berkley avenue, the wife of Roland 
Phillips, died in a hospital.

A native of Whaleyville, she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Mrs. Louvenia 
Johnson Askew.

She was a private nurse, a member of the Missionary Circle and Busy Bee Club of 
First Baptist Church, Berkley avenue, a past grand SS. noble of Bethany Eastern 
Star Chapter 131 and a member of Naomi United Order of Tents 31.
Besides her husband, surviving are a son, John Garner of Philadelphia;  and two 
grandchildren.

Services were held in First Baptist Church, Berkley avenue, by the Rev. William 
Tyree.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Chatman Funeral Home in charge of 
arrangements.
