Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Monday, May 25, 1992 
Leroy ``Buster'' Phillips, of the 900 block of Marietta Ave., a retired merchant
seaman, died May 22, 1992, in a hospital.

Mr. Phillips was born in Greenville, S.C. He had retired from the National
Maritime Union AFL-CIO after 40 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church
Bute Street and the Huntersville Section Citizens Club.

Survivors include his wife, Arvetta B. Phillips; a stepson, Robert G. Simmons of
Norfolk; and a sister, Elizabeth Epps of Hopewell.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church
Bute Street by the Rev. Robert G. Murray. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery .
The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Friends may join the
family at the residence. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
