He was a native of Brunswick county, Va., but had been living here for the past twelve years. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Mrs. Mary M. Phillips and is survived by the following children: Mrs. R. Braziel of Titusville, Pa.; Mrs. P. Galligher and Benjamin Phillips, both of Berkley. Mr. Phillips was a Confederate veteran, serving through the war. The funeral will take place from the above reisdence at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon. Interment will take place in Confederate Square, Magnolia Cemetery. ****************************************************************** The funeral of Devereaux Mabre Phillps was held from his residence, 210 West Liberty street, yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the services being conducted by Rev. E.T. Dadmun, pastor of Memorial M.E. Church. Interment was made in the Confederate square, Magnolia Cemetery. The following were pallbearers: Captain J.S. Whitworth, J.F. Tatum, O.M. Lynch, P.M. Pritchard, A.L. Langley, J.W. Griffith, W.L. Miles and J.E. Stevens. The first four were confederate veterans.
