("Bootsie") Phillips, Sr, 78, went home to be with the Lord on September 1, 2025. He was born on Thursday, March 15, 1947, in Norfolk, Virginia. He was the only child of Bertha V. Rountree and Leroy Phillips (deceased). Years later Bertha married John Rountree (deceased). While living in Norfolk he attended Jaycox School and Booker T. Washington High School. During his early adulthood he met and married Rosalyn Jordan (deceased). He and Rosalyn lived in Norfolk, Virginia and then later in Virginia Beach until her death. He then returned to Norfolk. During that time in his life, he helped raise four children. George attended First Calvary Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member of First Baptist Church until his death. He was baptized under the leadership of Rev. C. E. Griffin and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. He was a member of the Gospel Choir, Men of Faith Choir and a key member of the First Calvary Baptist Church Renovation Team and until he could no longer do it. During George's early years he worked at the JD Miles & Son Roofing, Exxon Corporation, Empire Machinery/Mancon and for the Virginian-Pilot Circulation Department from which he retired. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Alan Phillips (Willa Phillips), Vickie Phillips (William Riplow, Jr.), Tiffany Garces (Don Garces), and George L. Phillips, Jr. (Shanell Phillips); thirteen grandchildren, Antionette Vaughan (Cassidy Vaughan), Alonzo Phillips (Felicia Phillips), Shaquile Garces-Phillips (Delynisse Ramos) , Jalen Garces, William Phillips, Don Garces, Jr., Solomon Phillips, Selassie Phillips, Sayyid Phillips, Shamika Riddick, Shaolin Riddick, Sharkirah Riddick, and Diamond Brenkenridge; twelve great-great grandchildren; four cousins, Doris Deloatch, Clarence Wilson, Jr., Carolee Griffin, and Magdalene Phillips; one brother in law, Eric Jordan; four sister in laws, Melvina Martin, Sharon Briscoe, Beverly Anthony and Joann Jordan; and a host of aunts, cousins and friends . He leaves his cherished memories with a special group of people from At Ease Home Care, Ms. Maddy, Ms. Tierra, Ms. Yolanda, Ms. Shakara, Ms. Tiffany, Ms. Tina, Ms. Cheryl, Ms. Shavon, Ms. Cuffee and the rest of the staff from At Ease Home Care.
