Pickett, formerly of Norfolk, and who for a number of years conducted a business here on a large scale, but who moved to New York twelve years ago, died in that city Wednesday. The deceased was a son of the late Charles Pickett of Norfolk and a nephew of the late General George E. Pickett of the Confederate States Army. He is survived by two sisters, Misses Sophia and Elizabeth Pickett and one brother, H. Clay Pickett, of this city. The remains will arrive her from New York City on the Old Dominion steamer this morning and the funeral will be private. ********* PICKETT - Suddenly, in New York City, Wednesday, October 12, 1910, JOHN S. PICKETT, son of the late Major Pickett. Funeral services on arrival of Old Dominion steamer THIS (Friday) MORNING, October 14th (private). ************************************************************************* The remains of the late John S. Pickett, whose sudden death occurred in New York City Wednesday, arrived here on the Old Dominion steamer yesterday morning accompanied by friends of the deceased. The funeral was held privately at the grave in Elmwood Cemetery at noon and was conducted by Rev. Dr. F.C. Steinmetz of Christ Episcopal Church. The floral tributes were very handsome. Following were the pallbearers: John D. Westbrook, Wm. Martin, Charter Burruss, Charles Greenwood, R.M. Wilkinson, Edward Watts, D. Lawrence Groner and S.M. Price.
