Born March 8, 1916, in Baltimore, Mary Kathryn was the daughter of Hiram L. and Stella (McGuigan) Mason. She was a resident of Virginia most of the last 74 years and recently resided in Marian Manor in Virginia Beach. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Paul Anthony Piedmont, originally from Portsmouth, and two sons, Paul A. Piedmont Jr., formerly of Carolina Beach, N.C., and Richard E. Piedmont, formerly of Roanoke, Va. Mary Kathryn is survived by her children, Mary Kathryn and her husband Robert V. Martin of Norfolk, Elizabeth P. Gill of Augusta, Ga., Dr. Jeanette M. Piedmont of Harrisonburg, Va., Hiram Louis Piedmont and Barbara McLaughlin of Harpswell, Maine, Edith C. and her husband, W.W. Stoke, of Williamsburg, Va., Stella A. Piedmont of Virginia Beach, Laura W. Piedmont of Charlottesville, Va., John L. Piedmont and wife, Rita Stokes, of Valley, Ala., Donald S. Piedmont of Chester, Va., and Dr. Janice P. and her husband, Steven Dunlap, of Dayton, Va. She was also cherished by Mina Coggins Piedmont, widow of Paul Jr.; Barbara Duncan Piedmont, widow of Richard; as well as 31 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. A Christian wake will be conducted today at 7:30 p.m. Family will remain until 9 p.m. in the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Catholic Church by Father Brian Rafferty. Burial will follow in St. Mary 's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mary Kathryn requested donations to Easter Seals Virginia, 201 E. Main St., Salem, VA 24153.
