Norfolk - Mrs. Sarah J. Pierce, 75, of 2409 Cottage Ave. died Saturday in 
her home after a short illness.

She was a native of Halifax NC, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dallas 
Johnson and the widow of Edward Pierce. She lived in Norfolk six years. She 
was a member of William’s Chapter Baptist Church, Scotland Neck, NC for 60 
years and a member of New Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, for three weeks.

She is survived by three sons, James R. Pierce and Theodore Pierce of 
Norfolk and Charles Pierce of Boston MA; two daughters, Mrs. Leoshia Green 
of Norfolk and Mrs. Elizabeth Williams of New York City and two brothers, 
Cupid Johnson and Plymouth Johnson of New Jersey.

The body was taken to Morning Glory Funeral Home. A funeral service will be 
conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in New Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. 
Samuel A. Wilson, Pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
