Norfolk Journal and Guide, Nov 12, 1960
Haywood Pierce, 52, of 400 Park avenue, a Norfolk Naval Base employee who 
died Nov. 6 at Kecoughtan Veterans Hospital after a short illness, will 
receive last rites at the Graves Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The Rev. Wilson Washington will officiate and burial will be in Calvary 
Cemetery.

Mr. Pierce was a native of Chocowinity, NC, and had lived in Norfolk for 25 
years. His survivors include his wife, Mrs. Agnes Pierce; three sisters, 
Miss Catherine Pierce of New York and Misses Sarah and Estelle Pierce of 
Chocowinity; three brothers, Handy Pierce of Washington, Charlie Pierce of 
Baltimore, and Walter Pierce of Chocowinity.
