PIERCE AND SON Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Virginia Johnson Pierce and her infant son, Rupert, Jr., wife and son of Rupert M. Pierce, were held Sunday afternoon at Liberty Spring Christian church. The services were conducted by Rev. J. W. Johnson, pastor of the church; Rev. W. W. Staley, of Suffolk, and Rev. N. G. Newman, of Holland. Several selections were sung during the services by the church choir, and a solo was sung by Miss Blanche Daughtrey. Pallbearers were Thos. Everett and Joseph Brickhouse, Bobbie Johnson, Thomas Daughtrey and Everett, Thurman and Jack Copeland, all relatives of Mrs. Pierce. Interment was made in the church cemetery. Mrs. Pierce was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Johnson and had spent most of her life in Norfolk. She had taught school here for several years before her marriage.
