Mrs. Emma Davis Pierce, aged 73, died last night at 8:35 o’clock at the family
residence, 313 State street, after an illness of two weeks. She was a native of
North Carolina and had made her home in this section 23 years.

She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Davis and widow of Jeff Pierce.
Surviving her are two sons, Thomas and Clifton Pierce of Norfolk; a brother,
Luke Davis of Henderson NC; a sister, Mrs. Kattie Perry of Neuse, NC; two
grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Baptist Church of North Carolina. The body was removed
to the Sykes Funeral Home, 125 East Berkley avenue, pending funeral arrangements.
