Virginian Pilot November 1, 1973

Archie W. Pierce, 81, of 1308 21st St., the husband of Mrs. Myrtle Cowan 
Pierce, died Wednesday in his home.
A native of Gates County, N.C., he was retired from Norfolk Shipbuilding and 
Drydock Corp. and was a member of South Norfolk Baptist Church.
Survivors also include two sons, Garland W. Pierce and Artwell Lee Pierce of 
Chesapeake.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Francis A. Gay Funeral 
Home, South Norfolk, by the Rev. Frank Hughes Jr.  Burial will be in 
Riverside Memorial Park.
