Norfolk - James Thomas Pierce Sr. of 6231 Sedgefield Drive, a native of
Wilmington, NC, died Tuesday in a hospital.

Mr. Pierce, the widower of Harriett H. Pierce, had retired from the Cavalier
Hotel in Virginia Beach. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and a World
War II Army veteran.

Survivors include three sons, James T. Pierce Jr. and Ronald A. Pierce, both of
Virginia Beach, and Milton E. Pierce of Norfolk; a sister, Johnnie B. Thompkins,
and a brother, Raymond A. Pierce, both of Wilmington DE; and eight grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Grace Episcopal Church by the
Rev. Joseph N. Green Jr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be
at the residence. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
