Norfolk - Mary Claire Pinard, 85, went to be with the Lord, Friday, December 13, 
2013. She was the daughter of the late James Anthony Butt and Theresa Carty Butt. 
She was the twin sister of the late James A. Butt, Jr., and sister of the late 
Marie Theresa Kingsbury and the late Betty Williams. She was the wife of the late 
Joseph R. Pinard and is survived by her son, Christopher J. Pinard, his wife Pati, 
grandson, Jeremy Kane, granddaughter, Mary Grace Pinard, all of Virginia Beach and 
her sisters, Dorothy Robinson and Carolyn Pearson of Norfolk and many nieces and 
nephews. Mrs. Pinard was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church her 
entire life. She served as a volunteer for Birthright of Norfolk for many years. 
The family is grateful for the loving care she received from Willis Johnson, 
Theresa Rozelle, both of Christ the King Parish, Barbara Woods, Medi-Home 
HealthCare and the Franciscan Nuns from St. Matthews Catholic Church. A Christian 
Wake Service will be held at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk chapel on Sunday 
evening, December 15 at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 
Christ the King Catholic Church, 1803 Columbia Avenue, Norfolk, VA, at 10 a.m. 
Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk, VA., following the Mass. In 
lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Birthright of Norfolk. Online
