Virginian-Pilot  June 4, 1909
Mrs. Mary Pittman died yesterday afternoon at 5 o’clock at the residence of her 
son-in-law, Harry D. Oliver, 518 Freemason street. Mrs. Pitman was 80 years old. 
She was born in Ireland, but came to Norfolk when quite young and made her home 
here for 62 years. She was twice married, her first husband being Thomas Patton 
and her second John V. Pittman.
She is survived by two daughters and three grandchildren. The former are Mrs. 
Harry D. Oliver and Mrs. James G. Brounley, both of this city, and the latter are 
Mrs. C. V. W. Trice, James J. Brounley and Miss Ollie Brounley, all of Norfolk.
The funeral will take place from St. Mary’s Catholic Church Saturday morning at 10 
o’clock.
