The Norfolk Virginian Pilot Wednesday January 5, 1944
Edwin A. Pitts, 76, husband of Sarah E. Pitts, died at the residence, 1000 
Villa Circle, last night at 9:55 o'clock. Besides his wife he is survived by 
three sons, Linwood A. Pitts, of San Francisco; Edwin H. Pitts, of 
Jacksonville, and Vernon L. Pitts, of Los Angeles; a sister, Mrs. J.T. Lynch, 
of Norfolk; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and 
nephews. Mr. Pitts was a native of Norfolk County and had been a resident of 
Norfolk for 54 years and until his retirement two years ago was in the employ 
of the J.F. Etheridge Lumber Company for 45 years as mill superintendent.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow 
night at 8 o'clock. Burial will be private Friday morning.
