P. Pitts-Sunday afternoon there was quite a large assemblage at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, to pay the last tribute of respect to the memory of Judge E. P. Pitts, whose sudden death on Friday last we have before noted. The services were conducted by the Rector, Rev. N. A. Okeson, D. D., according to the rites of the church, no funeral discourse being delivered. The remains were borne to the hearse from the church by eight decently dressed colored men, the following gentlemen, most of them members of the bar, acting as pallbearers, walking in the rear: Judges W. H. Burroughs and George P. Scarburgh, Messrs. A. Wrenn, James Cornick, L. M. Harmanson, hon, John Goode and W. Tucker Brooke. The remains were taken to Elmwood Cemetery, where in its retired shades, they calmly sleep until the close of time. Requiescat in pace.
