Norfolk - Elizabeth Jane Plant, of the 700 block of Shirley Avenue, passed away on 
June 13, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Plant, her sisters, 
Patricia Tunney, Mary Dorothy Jacobi and grandson Barry Johnson. She is survived 
by her children and their families: Mary Ann Milanese (Frank) of Virginia Beach, 
Becky Graham (James) of Norfolk, Lynne Teller (Kurt), Susan Kitchens (David) of 
Keaau, Hawaii, Theresa Schindler (Ronald) of Norfolk, James V. Plant (Cindy) of 
Norfolk and Charles Plant of Norfolk. Mrs. Plant had 12 grandchildren and eight 
great-grandchildren; three sisters Mary Kathleen Sennewald, Ruth Patton, and 
Josephine Lauhofs; and two brothers, Frederick Jacobi and George Jacobi (Frances), 
all of Missouri. She was born to the late Elizabeth and Frederick Jacobi on August 
23, 1920, in Martinsburg, Mo. She graduated from St. Elizabeth Academy in 1938 and 
received a Registered Nursing degree from St. John's Hospital School of Nursing in 
1941. She was married to Robert William Plant in 1943, and they lived in Norfolk 
for over 60 years. Mrs. Plant was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church, serving on committees, in the soup kitchen and visiting the elderly. She 
will be greatly missed by family, friends and caregivers for her sweet smile and 
cheerful, gentle disposition. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in 
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 18 by Father 
Daniel Klem. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Norfolk. Online
