Mrs. Viola L. Platt, 54 died June 4 at her home, 1234 Griffin street, after 
a short illness.

A funeral service was held Thursday afternoon at First Calvary Baptist 
Church where she held membership. The Rev. C. E. Griffin officiated.

Mrs. Platt, a native of Norfolk, is survived by her husband, Gus Platt; two 
sons, John Edward Platt and Gus Platt Jr.; three daughters, Miss Joyce 
Platt, Mrs. Frances Felton and Mrs. Geraldine Simmons of Norfolk.

Also, six sisters, Mrs. Naomi Madison of Portsmouth, Mrs. Elizabeth Jones, 
Mrs. Beatrice Pitt and Mrs. Frances Vander Leeuw of Norfolk, Mrs Inez Felton 
of Baltimore and Mrs. Jessie Mae Perry of New York City; two brothers, James 
Saunders of Boston Mass. and Thomas Lee Hillard of Baltimore; and five 
grandchildren.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Morning Glory Funeral Home handled 
arrangements.
