NORFOLK - Gus Platt Jr. of 825 Pine Harbor Drive, a native of Tarboro, N.C., 
died Sunday in a hospital.

Mr. Platt was employed by Contractors Paving Co. for 28 years. He was a member 
of Hood Chapel AMEZ Church and a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Claudia Mae Platt, three daughters, Juanita Platt, 
Annie Burney and Doris King, all of Norfolk; a son, Reginald Platt of Norfolk; 
24 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Hood Chapel AMEZ Church by the 
Rev. C.A. Davis. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Hale Funeral Home is 
handling arrangements. The family will be at the residence.
