NORFOLK - Ernest Porter, 55, of 919 Druid Circle, Apartment 3, a native of Suffolk,
died Monday in a hospital.

Mr. Porter had been a merchant seaman for 39 years.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Porter; three daughters, Barbara Stephens and
Linda Perter, both of Norfolk, and Jean Shepard of Houston; five sons, Raymond
Williams, Roland Williams and Donald Porter, all of Norfolk, Cayton Porter of
Portsmouth and Ronald M. Williams of Italy; two sisters, Emma Slade and Lillie
Johnson, and two brothers, Jerry Porter and Herbert Porter, all of Portsmouth; and
10 grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Garden of Prayer Church of God
in Christ no. 3 by Elder Cornelius Purkett. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will begin today in Twilight Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, where a wake
service will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today. The family will assemble at 1 p.m.
Saturday at the residence.
