Norfolk Journal and Guide, Feb 19,1955

Joseph Portlock died at a local hospital Jan. 24 after a lingering illness.  
Funeral service was held at New First Baptist Church, Campostella Jan. 30, with 
the pastor, the Rev. R. L. Harris, officiating.

He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Effie Portlock;  four sons, Lewis, Oliver, 
Joseph and Eugene Portlock, and other relatives.  Fitchett’s Funeral Home was in 
charge of burial arrangements.

Interment was in Mt. Olive Cemetery
