A native of Norfolk, she was the widow of Jordan E. Portlock and retired from Norfolk public schools as a secretary. She was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church, its A.R. Caesar Bible Class, was secretary of the Adult Dept. of Sunday School, and on the staff of the Domel Church Paper. She was a member of the Mary D. Long Missionary Circle, Huntersville Senior Citizens and was also a past matron of Adah Chapter No. 20 Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Portlock was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, attended Norfolk State Evening College, graduated from the Continuing Education Center as a clerk typist and a government program. Survivors include a sister, Ellen Johnson; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Clapp; and nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held Friday at noon in First Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, by Dr. Johnnie L. White Sr. with burial in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.
