Mrs. Powell, a native of Paterson, N.J., formerly taught drama in the gifted and talented program of the Norfolk public schools. She was a therapist with the Washington Center for Aging Services and was a drama teacher with the D.C. Youth Ensemble. She was a graduate of Howard University and was a Catholic. Survivors include her husband, Jero Barm Powell; her mother, Betty J. Woodhouse of Washington, D.C.; her father, Clarence White of Oxon Hill, Md.; two sisters, Angela M. White and Sharon W. Thomas, and a brother, Michael White, all of Virginia Beach; maternal grandfather, Jerry Woodhouse, and paternal grandmother, Lizzie White, both of Paterson. The funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Walter C. Barrett. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . A wake service will be at 8 p.m. today in Hale Funeral Home. Friends may join the family at 5544 Barnhollow Road, Norfolk.
