The Virginian Pilot Friday September 26, 1958


Norfolk- Mrs. Grace Simpson Powell, 79, widow of Samuel G. Powell Sr. and 
daughter of the late James E. and Mrs. Rebecca Simpson and a native of 
Norfolk, died at a Norfolk hospital Thursday at 11:45 a.m.
She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church and resided at 622 New 
York Ave. Surviving are one son, Samuel G. Powell Jr., of Norfolk; two 
sisters, Mrs. Edward Field Shepperd, of Richmond, and Mrs. Raymond G. Gray, 
of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, James E. Simpson, of Portsmouth and 
William A. Simpson, of Washington, D.C., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewell and Williamson Funeral Home 
Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
